Who We Are
The creation of Rainbow Cops Belgium LGBTQIA+ Police ASBL in 2012 stems from the desire to promote an inclusive and safe working environment within the police services for people from the LGBTQIA+ community.
Founded by police officers concerned with combating discrimination, harassment, and violence faced by these individuals, both in society and within institutions, the association’s mission is to raise awareness and provide training to colleagues on issues related to sexual orientation and gender identity.
By setting up targeted internal training programs, Rainbow Cops aims to create a climate of respect and safety within the police force, while also offering support to officers facing discrimination or marginalization.
Rainbow Cops and the EGPA: Commitment to Inclusion
Rainbow Cops is also part of the European LGBT Police Association (EGPA), a network of police officers committed to defending the rights of LGBTQIA+ people.
Within this framework, the association had the honor of hosting the 10th EGPA Conference in Brussels in May 2024, a major event that brought together representatives from police services across Europe to share best practices in diversity and inclusion.

Engagement and Visibility
Rainbow Cops also actively participates in national and international conferences and events, such as the Police Village and the various Belgian Prides, in order to strengthen its network, increase its visibility, and further develop its awareness and training campaigns.
In doing so, the association plays an essential role in promoting human rights, combating violence based on sexual orientation and gender identity, and improving relations between the police and the LGBTQIA+ community.
